Dr. Diana Sherifali is Associate Faculty in the School of Nursing, and the inaugural Heather M. Arthur Population Health Research Institute, Hamilton Health Sciences Chair in Inter-Professional Health Research. Dr. Sherifali’s research interests include the implementation and evaluation of strategies to support diabetes self-management at the patient, provider and population level, including health coaching for diabetes prevention, management and remission. Dr. Sherifali has received over 19 million dollars in funding as a Principal Investigator and been funded by the Canadian Institutes for Health Research, Heart and Stroke and Diabetes Canada, and has published over 150 peer reviewed articles. Over the last decade, Dr. Sherifali’s work has helped shape diabetes health care in Canada.
Lori Berard has 35 years of experience in diabetes education, management and clinical research working as the Nurse Manager for the WRHA Health Sciences Centre Winnipeg Diabetes Research Group. She was also a Faculty Member at the University of Manitoba Department of Medicine Section of Endocrinology. Currently she is working as a consultant in diabetes management and clinical research operations. Lori has dedicated many years volunteering with Diabetes Canada and has extensive experience with the Clinical Practice Guidelines. She has been part of over 100 peer reviewed publications and has received many honors and awards related to her work in diabetes.
